Exchange Gifts, Spread the Cheer

Now, what are these Emberveil Gifts exactly? They're the presents that Father Beard and his Munk Helpers made for all to share and exchange!

Collect Emberveil Gifts: Besides the activities already mentioned, simply engaging in regular gameplay can yield Emberveil Gifts. But beware! It is only when exchanging the gift with another player that Father Beard's magic takes hold and your present transforms into a Merry Emberveil Gift. This can be done by right-clicking on another player and selecting “Exchange Gift”. If you refuse to share, you'll still find Tokens; however, you're also likely to get a lump of coal from Father Beard.

Visiting Father Beard once per day will reward Merry Emberveil Gifts after the Story Quest A Merry Quest is completed. Defeating special Goblin Grinches during any of the Seasonal Dynamic Events will also reward Merry Emberveil Gifts.

Earn Father Beard Tokens and Unlock Exclusive Rewards

Inside every gift, you'll find 10 Father Beard Tokens, and by visiting Merry Munk in Ravencrest, you can exchange these Tokens for special event House Decorations: Emberveil Socks, Emberveil Snowman and Emberveil Special Gift. Each item is designed to bring warmth and a little mischief to your home, making this event a perfect opportunity to decorate your house with a touch of holiday spirit.

Excerpt from “The Cultural Practices of Ravendawn Vol.I” by Lorekeeper Nicholas

…The Emberveil celebration was first introduced to the settlers of Ravencrest through contact with the dwarven people, as our forebears observed the proud stonefolk exchanging gifts and stories of a glorious past during the winter solstice. To the dwarves it was the time that they remembered the fall of the most illustrious mountain-city to have ever existed — Silvervein, the jewel of their old empire. As the Red Calamity claimed countless lives along with the metropolis itself, it was in the ashes of destruction and loss that Emberveil was born as a means to strengthen community bonds and to hold vigil for all those who were lost. It became the time when noble craglords and the clanless would mix and mingle, swapping presents, feasting and toasting to honor their past.

It is hardly surprising then, that humans fleeing the destruction of Lyderia so readily adopted many of the customs associated with Emberveil. One would be hard-pressed to imagine a more fragile society than those first settlers who did not know whether the coming winter would be their last. In adopting this dwarven tradition, our forebears were able to share limited resources, improve morale and cohesiveness of the whole group. Many of my colleagues have even proposed the notion that these customs were endorsed and supported by Lucien Ravencrest precisely because of their practical nature in improving the odds of survival. I, however, remain unconvinced.

It is far more probable that the practical benefits were a fortunate outcome of a society hungry for the new. The citizens of Ravencrest do not dwell on the fate of Lyderia like the dwarves do for Silvervein, after all. We are a people focused on the future and what is yet to come. Always anticipating the dangers and opportunities that await us, is this not the reason Lucien sailed into the unknown and sent out a call for others to follow in the first place? I say yes, and it is why all who seek to build a new future for themselves first come to Ravencrest!

Festivities are not without their dangers, however, and many of us are familiar with the menaces that emerge this time of the year — Goblin Grinches. These mean, green, raiding riders of blizzard beasts descend upon all those who celebrate Emberveil to wreak havoc and spread their own particular understanding of “cheer”. Despite beginning as nuisances for the dwarves during this time of year, they have since changed course to torment humanity and even Father Beard himself, the patron of Emberveil. Having mistaken gift giving as thievery, the goblins now practice this as tradition. Stealing and breaking presents while expecting humans to chase and steal them back. It is a truly bizarre ritual and one that only a goblin mind could conjure up…
